On Sunday May the 3rd local area car clubs, motorcycle groups, and first responders all gathered at the Newburgh Waterfront for a special Thank Our Heroes COVID-19 Drive By. The attendees would drive with police escort to the Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital and then to the Sapphire Nursing at Meadow Hill. Some continued on to do some birthday and get well soon drive bys.
Nurses from the hospital , masks in tow, assembled outside and in the windows to watch as a group of an estimated 1,000 participants drive past to show their support. Sections of classic cars screamed down the road, followed up with normal cars clade with support signs. American flags were bountiful as well as the sounds of horns and sirens. Finally the roar of 500 or more motorcycles approached the awestruck hospital staff.
After this participants made their way to the Sapphire Nursing at Meadow Hill by another police escort. Nursing homes have been the hardest hit by the corona virus especially in the Tristate area. The staff brought outside individuals who resided in the home so they could see the support they have. Individuals were sat outside and followed social distance as they watched the persistent precision pass their home.
In there times please remember the hard working people who are working every day and every night to keep us safe and strong.
