Major ATV crash in Washingtonville requires medevac transport

June 24th 2020 - WASHINGTONVILLE (caloremedia) At approximately 12:40 the orange county 911 center received a call of a possible ATV crash in the area behind the village DPW. This area is an old rail line that has been left abandoned. This was confirmed when an additional caller stated there was an unconscious boy found in that area. Quickly the Washingtonville police, Monell Engine Company, and the Blooming Grove Volunteer Ambulance Corp responded. A Medical helicopter was quickly requested and en-route. The child was safely removed from the woods and worked on by EMS. Once the helicopter landed EMS brought the patient to the landing zone and loaded the child into the helicopter. The child was transported to Westchester Medical.

The Mayor of Washingtonville made a statement regarding the situation

"A Message from Village Hall
This afternoon on the “rail trail “ behind our DPW/WWTP, a teenage boy was involved in an ATV accident. The individual was taken by BGVAC to Vern Allen Park where he was lifted in a medevac to Westchester Medical Center. I want to thank our Blooming Grove Volunteer Ambulance Corp., Monell Engine Company, Washingtonville Police Department and the Medevac Team for their quick response and as always their professionalism. Let’s keep this young man and his family in our thoughts and prayers.
Joseph Bucco Mayor"
